Professor Paula Mendes is Professor of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology at the University of Birmingham and an internationally recognised expert in glycan recognition, biosensing and nanotechnology.
She has pioneered superselective synthetic technologies for recognising glycans and disease-associated glycosylation and is an inventor of the core patented technology underpinning Precyose®. She has published over 100 scientific papers, holds five granted patents and has secured more than £24.5 million in research funding, including a prestigious European Research Council Advanced Grant.
Her contributions have been recognised through several awards, including the GE Healthcare Life Sciences Prize, Women in Tech Academic Award and IChemE Sharma Medal.

Iain Miller is a proven HealthTech and digital health sector leader with 35 years of diverse executive-level experience, most recently at C-suite & Board level. Has led 4 SMEs and sat on 7 Boards, most recently serving as CEO of Presymptom Health.
Iain has a history of entrepreneurship and senior leadership roles in diverse international SMEs, academic medical centres, venture-backed & listed blue-chip companies including GE Medical Diagnostics, Biomerieux & Massachusetts General Hospital. He brings extensive US market experience, where he lived and worked for 20 years.
Iain also serves as Royal Society Entrepreneur-in-Residence, University of York and as a Board member of Virax Biolabs (NASDAQ: VRAX) and Aisthesis Medical.
