Precyose® Ltd is a University of Birmingham spin-out company focussing on the precise detection and analysis of glycans, the complex sugar structures attached to proteins and cell surfaces, for a wide range of applications, with an early focus on prostate and ovarian cancer.

Changes in glycans are key indicators of disease and biological function, yet have been extremely difficult to measure accurately. Our patented technology provides a new solution by applying advanced molecular recognition at the nanoscale, offering a simple, sensitive, and specific method to identify glycan patterns in blood or other biological samples.

Current approaches such as immunoassays (e.g. PSA) can’t differentiate aggressive disease and have poor specificity compounded by low sensitivity. As a result, the early diagnosis gap drives poor outcomes and high healthcare costs.
